WKOK Staff | November 11, 2020 | LOCK HAVEN – It looks as though there will be no fall sports at all this year at Bloomsburg University and across the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. In a release, the PSAC stated that should six or more member schools commit to participating in any of those sports, the conference will reinstate a championship season. Last week, the Board agreed to proceed with the intent to play a full regular and championship season for all spring sports in 2021, a decision they reaffirmed in a release today. While there is no current plans for the PSAC to conduct falls sports in the spring, the conference did not slam the door shut on the possibility. The anticipated PSAC championship dates for these sports will be on weekends between late March and late April. A decision on winter championship seasons for wrestling, men’s and women’s basketball, indoor track & field and swimming is expected next week. Like the PSAC’s spring athletes who lost their 2020 seasons, Foresman and Leiby are disappointed the hard work and preparation for the upcoming season may have been for naught. The PSAC has reviewed its ability to shift all fall sports competitions and championships to the spring semester and plans to do so, if a return to play can be safely executed. As of now, the spring season will go on as planned for PSAC schools and their respective sports. The Board also voted to proceed with its intended mandated schedules and championships for 2021 spring sports. This means all the normal spring sports will take part in competition, including conference play and PSAC championships.
